Rebecca

Student of the Month for August 2010

Rebecca is ten years old. She is going into the fifth grade and loves music. Rebecca says " I really   love playing the piano and singing in voice."  Rebecca is a very hard working student.  She practices about 30 minutes to an hour everyday. This is true dedication that Rebecca gives to making music every week.  Not only does Rebecca love to play piano and sing, but she loves to dance.  Four years she took dancing lesson but currently doesn't take lessons.  Rebecca also plays the guitar. This is truly a young lady that has many talents, that loves making music in many different areas. She is currently attending A.L. Lotts for one more year.

Outside of playing and performing music, Rebecca loves spending time with her family and friends.  She really enjoys family game night and hanging around with her close friends.  Due to her busy schedule, she doesn't have a lot of free time like an average ten years a lot but like Rebecca says " I love the way my life is and I wouldn't change anything."  As you can see Rebecca has all the essentials of being Bill Jones Music student of the month, and this is why we crowned her miss August 2010!

EllenLarsonEllen Larson is a Senior Adult who loves music and enjoys the challenges that piano lessons provide.  She began taking piano lessons while in the 3rd grade in Kansas City, and continued through her senior year in High School.  She was the accompanist for the High School choir and also accompanied her sister who was an accomplished violinist.

While attending St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing, she also was the accompanist for the Nurses Choir.  After graduation, she got married, raised four children, and worked part time at Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky as an R.N., mainly in the Emergency Room.  She continued to practice on the piano at least an hour most every day even though she wasn’t taking any piano lessons.

On her 70th birthday, her husband surprised her with a Grand Piano.  She began taking piano lessons once again and felt she had a lot of catching up to do, and also felt unworthy of such a wonderful piano.  She is taking lessons from Jeannine Hines, who provides her with the musical challenges that she thrives on.  She practices 3-4 hours every day, works hard on learning theory, which was lacking in her musical experience.  Taking piano lessons will take you places that you never dreamed of—history, theory, and pure enjoyment.

Her hobbies include gardening, of which roses are her specialty, and embroidery.  She is a member of the East Tennessee Rose Society, Embroiders Guild of America, and Concord First Baptist Church where she is an active member.  She is involved in a weekly Precepts Bible Study and the Storying Scarf Ministry.
